All enemies in the game have a Pressure meter under the health bar. All attacks deal Pressure damage, filling up the meter. When Pressure is full, the meter will Break and Stagger enemies.
Break (Regular) - Enemies take more damage and can be interrupted easier with attacks.
Break (Boss) - Bosses in the game enter a broken state, where they cannot fight back and take more damage. Use this to unleash all damaging attacks.
